The Devastating Impact of the Earthquakes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On June 24, 2026, two powerful earthquakes struck Venezuela. Within a short period of time, earthquakes measuring magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5 hit the north of the country. The coastal state of La Guaira and the capital, Caracas, were among the areas most severely affected. Thousands of people<\/mark> lost their lives, their homes, or loved ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through our existing project with Sister Maria Olga, we were able to connect with two families directly affected by the disaster: Yuleida and her family<\/mark><\/a>, as well as the brothers Eudyn and Roigel<\/mark><\/a>. We are in close contact with them and want to help them rebuild a safe and stable life after everything they have been through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Earthquakes of June 24, 2026<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The two earthquakes occurred within a short period of time and reached magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5. Numerous residential buildings collapsed or were damaged so severely that residents could not return to their homes. La Guaira, where both families we support lived, was particularly badly affected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By August 3, 6,125 deaths<\/mark> had been confirmed, and almost 61,000 people<\/mark> had received hospital treatment. UNICEF estimates that around 1.8 million people<\/mark> require humanitarian assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For survivors, the consequences extend far beyond the loss of their homes. Many are still living in emergency shelters, with limited access to clean water and medical care, while also coping with grief, traumatic experiences, and an uncertain future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Direct Support for Two Families<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Our collaboration with Sister Maria Olga has given us trusted contacts in the region. This allowed us to speak directly with Yuleida, Eudyn, and Roigel and learn more about their current circumstances and the support<\/mark> they urgently<\/mark> need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both families lost loved ones, their homes, and almost all of their belongings <\/mark>in the earthquakes. We do not only want to provide short-term assistance. Our goal is to help them regain stability and gradually begin rebuilding their lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For this reason, we have launched two separate fundraising campaigns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Support for Yuleida and Her Family<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

When the four-storey residential building collapsed, Yuleida\u2019s mother, her four children, and other family members were inside the apartment. Yuleida\u2019s sons Alexander and Juan Miguel, aged 14 and ten, lost their lives in the collapse. Her twelve-year-old niece Alejandra and six-month-old Alexandra also did not survive the earthquake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yuleida\u2019s mother and her two daughters were trapped beneath the rubble. Six-year-old Yulibeth managed to escape through an opening in the collapsed building and alerted neighbors that members of her family were still alive. It took around twelve hours before the survivors could be rescued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yuleida\u2019s mother suffered a severe pelvic fracture and required surgery. She is currently unable to walk and relies entirely on the support of others. Yuleida takes care of her every day while also looking after her two daughters. Her eight-year-old daughter Yulieth, in particular, needs professional psychological support <\/mark>to process the traumatic experience<\/mark>, the loss of her brothers, and the destruction of her home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The donations will help fund Yuleida\u2019s mother\u2019s medical treatment and rehabilitation, psychological care for her daughter, medication, essential medical aids, and the family\u2019s basic living expenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A New Home for Eudyn and Roigel<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The brothers Eudyn and Roigel also lost their mother, their home, and everything they owned in the earthquake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Twenty-year-old Eudyn and his sixteen-year-old brother lived with their mother in the Hugo Ch\u00e1vez residential complex in Playa Grande, in the state of La Guaira. When the earthquake struck, Eudyn was staying with his grandmother. Roigel had initially been at home with his mother, but she had sent him to a nearby shop just a few minutes before the earthquake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While Roigel was outside, the building collapsed. Because the family\u2019s apartment was on the ground floor, their mother was buried beneath the rubble of several storeys. Roigel witnessed the building collapse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nothing could be recovered from the apartment. Their clothes, personal belongings, and everything the family had built up over the years were lost within moments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eudyn and Roigel are now living in an emergency shelter<\/mark> with their cat, Coco. Although Eudyn is only 20 years old, he is now solely responsible for his younger brother. They currently have neither a permanent housing solution nor a safe home of their own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through the fundraiser, we want to help them rebuild a stable foundation<\/mark> for their lives. Donations will be used for safe accommodation, essential furniture and household items, clothing, food, school supplies, and other basic living expenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The earthquakes changed the lives of both families within seconds. What they lost cannot be replaced, but together we can make sure they do not have to face this difficult time alone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
