During our first trip to Chefchaouen in\u00a0June 2022<\/strong>, we met\u00a0Yassin<\/strong>, a young man suffering from a severe physical disability that significantly limits his daily life. Although our initial contact during that trip was brief, Yassin\u2019s fate stayed with us, and we felt compelled to help him further. After returning to Germany, despite having only limited information, we began searching for him through\u00a0social media and local contacts in Morocco<\/strong>, and eventually, we were able to locate him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We traveled back to Morocco to visit Yassin and his family, who warmly welcomed us with traditional Moroccan dishes, despite their humble living conditions.<\/strong> Although they had previous negative experiences with aid organizations that had exploited them, we were able to earn their trust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n However, our visit also made us aware of the\u00a0challenging living conditions\u00a0they were facing. The family lived in\u00a0poverty<\/strong>\u00a0in a small village<\/strong>, sharing\u00a0one bed among the three of them\u00a0in a small, cold room with\u00a0limited access to basic amenities\u00a0such as warm water, a kitchen, or a functional bathroom. In the winter months, when temperatures in the mountains drop significantly, the lack of warm water made daily life even more difficult. The family’s bathroom consisted of\u00a0only a hole in the floor\u00a0and a bucket of cold water used for bathing, washing clothes, and doing the dishes. With just\u00a0\u20ac30 of monthly income,\u00a0the family struggled to meet their basic needs, making a safe and worry-free life impossible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n After our visit, we worked together to find ways to support<\/strong> Yassin<\/strong> and his family<\/strong>. Yassin told us about his\u00a0old mobility scooter,\u00a0which he used despite his walking disability, but it had broken down. Thanks to\u00a0your generous donations,\u00a0we were able to purchase a new scooter for him, allowing him to travel\u00a0faster and pain-free to school and into town.\u00a0This scooter has also made it easier for him to participate in social life with his friends, as he previously needed a lot of time to get around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Additionally, thanks to one of our Instagram followers, we received a\u00a0suitcase full of clothes and shoes,\u00a0which helped the family better prepare for the winter and endure the cold. The gratitude and joy they expressed for this support were truly heartwarming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Given their\u00a0precarious living conditions, we decided to\u00a0build<\/strong> a new home<\/strong>\u00a0for Yassin and his family\u2014one that would make their daily lives easier and free from health hazards. We hired\u00a0local workers from the village\u00a0to assist with the construction, providing them with a\u00a0temporary steady income.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Soon after our first visit, we returned to purchase the necessary materials and began the construction work. After several months, the family now has a\u00a0fully renovated home<\/strong>\u00a0with a\u00a0well-equipped kitchen, a functional bathroom,\u00a0and a newly renovated room that serves as an\u00a0additional sleeping or living space. A\u00a0newly installed water system\u00a0now ensures access to\u00a0hot water,\u00a0making showering, laundry, and dishwashing much easier for the family. Additionally, the\u00a0roof was completely renovated,\u00a0eliminating any risk of collapse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n All of this was made possible thanks to your support!<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Yassin and his family are\u00a0deeply grateful\u00a0for your help and donations, which have\u00a0fundamentally improved\u00a0their living conditions.
