Supporting an Animal Shelter in the Mountains of Chefchaouen
Our first mission began in 2022 with the support of the Beldi Refuge animal shelter in Chefchaouen, founded by Leeny from Germany. Thanks to numerous donations, we were able to provide the dogs with urgently needed food and support the expansion of the animal hospital.
Now, the shelter needs our support once again
The monthly income is barely enough to cover food, veterinary treatments, vaccinations, and other essential needs. As a result, important purchases are repeatedly postponed – including the urgently needed construction of new dog shelters that will provide the dogs with protection and security.
The cost of building a total of 35 dog shelters and additional protective spaces amounts to approximately €4,000. A carpenter friend of the shelter from the region will carry out the construction work. This project will give him the opportunity to earn additional income alongside his regular job.
Currently, the shelter is home to over 120 dogs. The shelter takes in stray dogs and provides them with medical care, food, neutering, and – ideally – placement in a safe new home.
In addition, Leeny has launched the “Taggy Dog” project, which enables stray dogs to be vaccinated and neutered, after which they receive an ear tag for identification. Through the TNVT and community project, not only can the dogs at the shelter be cared for, but it also provides greater safety and protection for the many stray dogs in the area.
Despite many challenges, Leeny accomplishes incredible things every day and tirelessly advocates for the welfare of the animals. We have already visited the shelter in Morocco twice and were deeply impressed by what Leeny and the dedicated volunteers have created for the dogs. We want to continue supporting this valuable work!
In order to provide the dogs with more comfort and protection, we rely on your help. Every contribution counts! Leeny and the entire shelter team are immensely grateful for any support and look forward to finally being able to offer the dogs a safer place to stay.
